Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age. Everyone wants a beautiful and healthy smile. We believe everyone deserves to smile confidently, regardless of their age. 20-25% of orthodontic patients these days are adults. Our office offers both traditional orthodontic treatment (braces) and Invisalign treatment (clear, removable aligners).
Invisalign
Invisalign aligners can help you to get the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always wanted – without braces.
What is it?
Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that move your teeth to a prescribed end-position. The aligners are clear, so no one can tell you’re wearing them, and they’re removable, so you can eat and drink whatever you want throughout your treatment. Brushing and flossing are no problem. Since you take the aligner trays out to clean your teeth, you can brush and floss like you normally do, without needing special gadgets to help you clean around the brackets like you would have to do with traditional braces. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And having no brackets and wires – means you’ll spend less time in the office getting adjustments.
How Does it Work?
Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging technology. You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to their final position. The total treatment time averages between 9-24 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is usually between 18 and 48, but both will vary from case to case.
Clear or Regular Braces
Braces have come a long way over the years. Today’s brackets are smaller and less noticeable than they used to be and newer materials help us to straighten teeth faster and with less discomfort than they used to. Treatment time varies, depending on how much movement needs to take place, but the average is usually between 12-24 months.
